“But those who believe and do deeds of righteousness,
We shall admit them to Gardens under which rivers flow (i.e. in Paradise) to dwell therein forever.
Allah’s promise is the Truth;
and whose words can be truer than those of Allah?

Surah An-Nisa 4:122

My drive comes from the pure joy I see when helping others. It's deeply fulfilling to know I can make a difference for those in need. These moments remind me that there's always someone who needs more help than I do, keeping me humble and determined to do more.

My grandmother instilled these values in me, teaching me to give back no matter the situation. She grew up in a small house with nine children and was fortunate to come to the Netherlands, recognizing how rare and precious that opportunity was. Her lessons have shaped me, showing the importance of supporting others.

I feel a deep connection to my community, and having the means to give back fills me with immense gratitude and joy. While there's still much to be done, I believe that together, we can make a significant difference. By uniting our efforts, we can improve many lives and leave a lasting impact. Let's continue this mission with compassion, driven by the desire to create a better future for all.

From a young age, I felt a strong desire to start a charity in my homeland, Cape Verde. My mother always emphasized giving back to those less fortunate, a lesson that deeply shaped me.

I remember a trip with my mother to Cape Verde, where I saw how everyone, from police officers to the mayor, greeted her with respect. Curious, I asked her about it, and she said, "I left, but I never forgot where I came from. Every time I return, I share what I have, whether it's food, a new phone, or just a helping hand."

Her words stuck with me. As I grew older, I sought bigger ways to give back, aiming for lasting impact. Now, with the Al Wasilah Foundation, that dream is becoming a reality. We can make a difference together, bringing hope and joy to those in need.

This legacy of love and care, instilled by my mother, drives me. Together, we can transform Cape Verde, creating a lasting legacy of kindness that will benefit future generations.

The Childcare Benefits Scandal confronted me with significant responsibilities at a young age. At just fourteen, I started working and quickly learned what it meant to care for my family and loved ones. This experience only deepened my desire to support my community in Cape Verde, and it brings me immense satisfaction to help others.

My love for Cape Verde runs deep. As a proud Cabo, I am always looking for ways to support my homeland. Helping people isn't just a task for me; it's my passion and my calling.

This drive to assist others also led me to the healthcare sector. When my grandmother was diagnosed with Alzheimer's, I decided to work in healthcare to learn how to best care for her. I believe that Allah guided me to this path, and I feel a strong duty to support others.

Ultimately, it's about making a difference, no matter how small. Every contribution counts, even if it's just the size of a small pebble. Together, we can build a better future for Cape Verde, one brick at a time.

  • Saalih (Stevie) Lloyd de Brito

    Chairman

From a young age, I've felt a strong desire to give back to my community, even before embracing Islam. My mother and grandmother instilled in me the values of sharing and helping others, though I struggled to find the best way to do so. Now, I've found my path.

As a proud Cabo, I'm eager to deepen my understanding of my culture, community, and Cape Verde through service and engagement. We're also committed to spreading the message of Islam, and I want to share the true beauty of our faith with the Cape Verdean community.

I've often seen people grow up in environments that hinder their potential. We aim to help as many as possible and build a stronger, more vibrant community. My mother, who worked in healthcare, always prioritized others' needs, inspiring me deeply. Now, I too work in healthcare, and nothing brings me more joy than helping others.

Guided by Islam, I hope to see my people grow and flourish, achieving success and prosperity in both worldly and spiritual matters.
