project “eid ul adha”
During our visit to the island of Sal, we discovered a heartfelt need within the community that touched us deeply. As Eid Al Adha, a significant and joyous occasion for Muslims, approached, we learned that many families were unable to participate in the traditional sacrifice of an animal—a ritual that symbolizes devotion, gratitude, and the spirit of sharing.
Moved by this situation, we felt compelled to act. With the generosity of our supporters, we raised €900, enough to provide six animals (whilst the initial goal was 3) for sacrifice. These animals were entrusted to three different mosques on the island, with the clear intention that the meat be distributed to those most in need.
The act of giving during Eid Al Adha holds profound significance. It's not just about the sacrifice itself, but about sharing blessings with others, especially those who are less fortunate. For the families who received this meat, it meant more than just a meal—it was a reminder that they are not alone, that their community cares for them, and that they too are part of the celebration of faith and unity.
This gesture, though small, symbolized the essence of Eid Al Adha: compassion, sacrifice, and community. It was a testament to the power of collective effort and the difference we can make when we come together with pure intentions. Through this act, we not only honored a cherished tradition but also strengthened the bonds within the Muslim community, ensuring that everyone could partake in the joy and blessings of this sacred time.
